Welland, Ontario hosts pancake breakfast fundraiser

November 11, 2016

Rallying together to support a good cause was exactly what team members at Location #31963 in Welland, Ontario did when they hosted a pancake breakfast on Oct. 28 to benefit breast cancer research. Dispatcher Helen Sullivan lead the event and rallied team members to support the cause by promoting the fundraiser three weeks prior through two-way radio announcements and flyers posted throughout the facility.

Approximately 50 people attended the breakfast, prepared by management and served buffet style.

The fundraiser breakfast, with a $3 suggested donation, consisted of pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee and tea.

When asked why the location chose to hold this fundraiser, Location Manager Yvonne Sodtka responded, “We feel that by hosting events like this, maybe one day our children may not be faced with this horrible disease. Let us all stand together for the cure!”

The fundraiser was a grand success raising $1,000 for Breast Cancer Society of Canada.

Kudos and thank you to the entire team, and to those who gave in-kind donations, for your efforts in raising money to help fight breast cancer.
