First Student Syracuse Team Finishes Second at 15th National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo

March 8, 2012

CINCINNATI — A team from First Student Syracuse finished second at the 15th National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo. Randall Price and Nicole Dolce represented First Student and the Syracuse City School District at the competition in Orlando on March 10th.

Price and Dolce were judged on a number of skills, including driving and backing a bus; loading, unloading and securing students in wheelchairs; and evacuating a special needs bus. The team also had to complete a written test.

Dolce has been with First Student Syracuse since 2008. She began as an attendant and is now the safety coordinator. Price is the location safety officer, and he joined the First Student team in 2008 as a driver. This was the first time the two competed at the National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo.

Edupro Group and the National Association for Pupil Transportation administered the event. Price and Dolce qualified for the roadeo after strong first and second place showings at local and state competitions in New York.
