First Student Signs New Contract with Jefferson Parish Public School System in Louisiana

First Student, the industry’s leading provider of student transportation solutions, will continue to partner with Jefferson Parish Public School System in Metro New Orleans for the 2016-2017 school year and beyond. The district has renewed its transportation contract with First Student for five additional years.

 First Student will update its fleet with the addition of more than 60 new buses over the course of the contract. First Student has long been a technology leader by investing in tools such as crossing gates and the Child Check-Mate System. With onboard GPS systems across its fleet of 47,000 buses, First Student leads the industry in real-time vehicle tracking and telematics.

First Student transports more than 21,000 Jefferson Parish students to and from school each day. The contract with First Student includes the operation, maintenance and management of a fleet of nearly 150 vehicles that serve 85 schools throughout the district.
