CINCINNATI — First Student, Inc., the nation’s leader in student transportation, announces a new contract with the Oak Ridge School District in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The five-year, full-service contract will provide transportation to and from school and extracurricular events for all 4,700 Oak Ridge students. First Student will maintain a fleet of 33 buses and operate 27 routes.

All First Student drivers must pass a comprehensive background check, substance screen and full DOT physical exam, as well as complete more than 50 hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel training before they can drive a First Student bus. First Student was the first school bus operator to install front safety crossing gates, an anti-theft, electronic child reminder system and a computerized global positioning system as standard equipment on its buses.
