CINCINNATI — First Student, the nation’s leader in student transportation, has named three senior managers to lead transportation operations, maintenance and safety for the company’s new agreement with Wichita Public Schools USD 259.
“We are pleased to have such a strong leadership team in place as we establish First Student as the school transportation provider within the Wichita community,” said Phil O’Donnell, region operations manager, First Student. “This team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the area that will benefit our employees, the district and the families we serve.”
John Billigmeier joins the company as the senior contract manager. He is responsible for all transportation operations, as well as directing a staff of more than 800 employees. Billigmeier has more than 15 years of experience in operations and business management. He spent the majority of his professional career at DHL where he filled a number of management roles and was recognized for his teams’ service performance and productivity gains. Most recently, he was the director of transportation for MachineryLink Transport.
Brian Brunt joins the team as senior safety manager. He will oversee safety training and education, and will develop safety protocols, ensuring a safe environment for employees and students. Brunt has been with First Student for several years, and comes to Wichita from the company’s Shawnee Mission, Kan. location where he played a key role in establishing the safety procedures for First Student at that district.
Greg Bowman is the senior maintenance manager and is responsible for all aspects of vehicle maintenance. Bowman will manage the maintenance team and ensure all buses are operating in peak condition. Bowman joins the company after 23 years with Ryder Systems.
The 2010-2011 school year marks the start of a seven-year agreement for First Student to provide safe and reliable student transportation for the district. In total, the company will have nearly 700 buses and more than 600 drivers providing service to the community.
