First Student Helping Feed 300+ Families for Thanksgiving

The long-time Cincinnati company and industry-leader in student transportation is providing a $12,000 contribution to Future Ambassadors, Inc. for “Spread Love Turkey Day 2024.”

Cincinnati, OH – First Student, the trusted leader in school transportation for millions of families, is partnering with Future Ambassadors, Inc. to feed families across Cincinnati this Thanksgiving. On Saturday, November 23, First Student is sponsoring and participating in Future Ambassador’s “Spread Love Turkey Day 2024,” giving back to the local community. The event will provide more than 300 families with complete Thanksgiving meals to ensure they have everything they need to celebrate the holiday. The event is supported by generous donations, support from volunteers and many local companies and organizations. In addition to a contribution of $12,000, First Student team members will be volunteering and helping hand out meals.

Future Ambassadors, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting local communities through charitable giving, support services and educational opportunities. “Spread Love Turkey Day” has been a signature event of community support for nearly 15 years, with expanded reach every year.

“Our team is focused every day on helping kids travel safely to and from school and supporting both schools and families. We are deeply rooted in the communities we serve, especially here in our hometown of Cincinnati, and so giving back during the holiday season is an opportunity we treasure,” said First Student Senior Vice President of Safety and Security Darryl Hill. “First Student, is proud to support Future Ambassadors and their ‘Spread Love Turkey Day’ event so families in need can celebrate the season with their loved ones.” 

“Over the last 15 years, I have watched the need for families grow to great numbers,” said Future Ambassadors, Inc. Executive Director and Founder Dorron Hunter. “We started with 20 families, and it grew from 20 to 50 and from 50 to more than 300 families that we can feed at this time. We’re especially grateful to all the volunteers who support this event – who are truly spreading love this holiday season – and especially to First Student for their generous support.”

First Student’s sponsorship of “Spread Love Turkey Day 2024” reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to making an impact both within the workplace and in the communities they serve. The event takes place this Saturday at the Woodlawn Recreation Center, located at 10050 Woodlawn Blvd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45215. Interview and b-roll opportunities with organizers, volunteers, and families are as follows:

  • Noon – Food/grocery pickup at the Oakley Meijer, located at 3195 Geier Dr., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45209.
    • The food will be loaded up and taken to the pickup location.
    • Meijer has approved video for news crews on site.
  • 2:00 pm – Room set up, food unloading and sorting at Woodlawn Recreation Center.
  • 4:15 pm – Check presentation from First Student to Future Ambassadors, Inc.
  • 4:00 – 6:00 pm – Families arrive to pick up meals.
