June 21, 2008

CINCINNATI — First Student, Inc., the nation’s leading transit company, has partnered with the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund to serve as the primary provider of transportation for the Reds Rookie Success League, which features more than 1,500 kids in 2008. The Reds Rookie Success League focuses on character education while introducing children to the game of baseball and is now in its sixth year.

First Student, which is headquartered locally, will supply First Student school buses for the summer program.

“We are proud to be affiliated with such an admirable organization as the Reds Community Fund,” said Carey Paster, CEO and President Sales, Marketing & Commercial Development of First Student. “Their longstanding tradition of supporting baseball programs among at-risk youth in Cincinnati has made a real difference in the lives of many children. As a company that transports more than 3 million students across the country to and from school each day, including hundreds here in Cincinnati, we are also working to foster the safety and well-being of children.”

The Reds Community Fund is the official non-profit organization of the Cincinnati Reds dedicated to improving the lives of youth through its baseball-themed outreach efforts. Since its inception in 2001, more than 25,000 kids have benefited from the Reds Rookie Success League, youth baseball and softball funding, field renovation, youth baseball “match” and Greater Cincinnati RBI programs.
