Wisconsin location debuts mural featuring local students’ art

September 8, 2016

When Kenosha, Wisconsin Location Manager Mike Comstock wanted to decorate one of the walls at Location #20737 in a way that would show appreciation for his employees, he discussed the idea with the Kenosha Unified School District Superintendent.

Fourteen students and three teachers were involved in the creation of the “First Student Children’s Mural”

Together with 3 art teachers, they created a summer art project for 14 students – a mural for the location’s wall. The project was designed to be completed in time for the location’s Employee Appreciation Day celebration.

In late August, the mural was installed and a ribbon cutting was held. The dedication of the “First Student Children’s Mural” was a well-attended event with more than 10 school board members present, in addition to location employees and other members of the community.

At the event, students, teachers and the principal of the Whitter School were acknowledged for their hard work and First Student employees, who keep the children safe everyday throughout the school year, were thanked for their dedication.

In addition to this much-deserved recognition, attendees enjoyed refreshments. Local media also covered the event.
