First Student teams holds food drive
Though people think of donating to food banks during the holiday seasons, hunger has no season – food pantries need help year round.Team members from Location #12648 in Ridgefield, CT held a food drive on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Ridgefield Stop & Shop supermarket in Ridgefield, CT. Throughout the day, team members collected a variety of canned goods, personal care and household items.Safety Dog was there to distributed Safety Dog coloring pages. Some younger children boarded the school bus, parked at the location, and to learn about safe while riding a school bus.The team collected non-perishable canned foods, household and hygiene items along with $200 in cash and gift cards.Two Girl Scout troops surprised the team by dropping off several boxes of GirlScott cookies.All donations were given to the Ridgefield Social Services Department.“My team did an incredible job in organizing and working this food drive,” said Location Manager Cheryl Krauchick. “Despite the cold weather, residents of Ridgefield turned out in large numbers to support us.”
