First Student Location #20159 in Tolland, Connecticut, recently got into the festive spirit by again participating in their community’s annual Festival of Lights Parade.
The parade, which occurs the Saturday after Thanksgiving, ushers in the Christmas season while raising money for the Hockanum Valley Community Council’s food pantry.
Drivers and family members participated in decorating the bus in the theme “Rudolf and Friends” and also marched in the parade while handing out candy.
Their hard work and efforts certainly paid off as the Location was awarded, for the second year in a row, the 2016 Best Holiday Spirit Award.
“I am so thankful and proud for all the work our drivers Jill McNamee, Kimberly Johnson, Lois Hartenstein, Cindy Broderick, Rich DeVaux, Kathleen Mancini, Jennifer Bates, Joy Brooker, Sabrina Stone and John Riding did in taking charge and presenting a wonderful start to the season for our community,” said Location Manager Terri Scheidel. “It was such a wonderful night.”
Plans are already underway in creating a new theme for next year’s parade.
