Once a year the Palmdale Chamber of Commerce in Palmdale, California, hosts an annual Christmas Parade. This year the parade took place on December 10, and Location #12695 in Palmdale, CA, took part in the festivities.
Location Manager Alex Irizarry dressed as Safety Dog and entered two buses decorated with holiday pictures made by students from the Palmdale School District. Shop Manager Arnoldo Adaire made a unique steel reindeer sled for one of the buses and affixed it to the front of the bus. The reindeers appeared to run while the bus was in motion. Location Safety Manager Lourdes Perez, dressed as Mrs. Claus, drove one of the buses while team member Behind the Wheel Trainer Cinthia Torres drove the other. Girl Scouts of America and several students from the District walked alongside the buses and others rode in the buses waving to onlookers along the parade route. For the team’s efforts, parade judges awarded First Student and the District the first place Mayor’s Choice award. “My team and staff from the district came together and did a marvelous job in decorating the buses,” said Alex. “It was so much fun dressing up as Safety Dog and interacting with everyone who turned out to see the parade. What a wonderful way to show First Student’s commitment to the Palmdale community.”
