Location achieves milestone of 1,300 days with no accidents or injuries
M1aking safety a personal core value is paramount at First Student. Avoiding accidents and injuries in the workplace is everyone’s responsibility, especially if we want to build a safety culture of zero harm and where we improve business performance.   For Location #12657 in Germantown, Ohio, safety went to a whole new level when team members gathered on January 23 to celebrate 1,300 days of no accidents or injuries in the workplace.   Drivers, mechanics and staff gathered in the location’s garage to celebrate this momentous occasion with a celebratory luncheon. “Everyone at this location takes ownership for safety in this workplace,” said Location Manager Rick Wharton. “From their first day on the job and throughout their tenure with First Student, my employees know that First Student values their safety and security. Our continuous safety training is part of our core values and on-boarding for all employees.”   To personally congratulate the employees, Area General Manager Scott Turney and Regional Safety Manger Bruce Laine, traveled to the location to speak to the team and thank them for their efforts in maintaining a safe environment for all.    In addressing the group, Scott indicated that in today’s workplace, the issue of job safety has never been more important to the success of First Student. “When strong safety practices become part of the operational fabric of the organization, everyone wins.”
