St. Mary College participants in Car-time KarokeDuring a local competition, several area schools and organizations contacted Location #31953 in Sault Ste. Marie requested First Student to participate in a karaoke fundraiser by donating buses and drivers. Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, held an unusual fundraiser to raise money and  bring local businesses and organizations together.  This year’s theme was a Car-time Karaoke Challenge. After boarding the buses, teams from a business or organization introduced themselves and announced their song selection. During the ride, they recorded themselves singing. Their videos were uploaded to Facebook or YouTube, Three businesses or organizations were invited to compete in the challenge. The videos went viral and were viewed by more than 360,000 people. “This fundraiser was a perfect fit for us to connect with our community,” said Location Manager Eva Sicoly. “Three of my drivers stepped forward to donated their time driving five different times during the competition.” “These drivers went above and beyond to help these teams compete for a very worth-while cause,” said Dispatcher Jackie Lavallee. “Knowing that all the money raised went to an organization that helps someone and their families with end of life care, aligns directly to our values and philosophy of giving back to our community.
