Our location in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recently supported their local Heart and Stroke Foundation’s annual fundraiser, the Saskatoon Dragon Boat Festival. They donated the transportation and carried more than 1,100 paddlers and spectators to and from the day’s events. Assistant Location Manager Nadia Kavanagh also spearheaded the creation of a dragon boat team, called First Dragons. Drivers, mechanics, trainers and office staff all joined together to make up the 21 person team. First Dragon’s raised more than $5,000, with 10 members raising $500 each. The team not only exceeded expectations in fundraising, but also in performance. This first-time team placed 7th out of 37 teams in the race! “I could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication our team demonstrated. They represented First Student Saskatoon valiantly on the water and the road,” shared Location Manager Melissa Wieler.
