Christy Perry

Christy Perry is a native of Oregon who is a first-generation college student earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at Western Oregon State College and her administrative license from Portland State University.

Superintendent Perry is engaged in the community and serves on several local, state educational and civic boards to help develop and grow community partnerships.

Superintendent Perry has provided Salem-Keizer Public Schools great gains with a new state-of-the-art Career Technical Education Center and has increased the number of state-approved CTE programs. The district now has an equity-focused strategic plan to ensure equitable outcomes for students, and graduation rates have increased each year during Perry’s tenure as superintendent.

About the Award:

The Superintendent of the Year program, sponsored by First Student and AASA, The School Superintendents Association, pays tribute to the talent and vision of the men and women who lead the nation’s public schools.

The 2021 Superintendent of the Year will; be awarded at the National Conference on Education on February 18th, 2021

The National winner of the award is chosen from the four finalists who are selected from state level winners.

State level winners are selected on the following criteria:

  • Leadership for Learning
  • Communication
  • Professionalism
  • Community Involvement
