First Student Locations Recognized for Environmental Efforts

July 27, 2015

Fourteen First Student location teams were recently awarded Green Fleet Certifications from the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) for their efforts to improve the environment.

The NSTA awards Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze certification levels annually based on a number of factors, including fleet profile and anti-idling policies.

Three First Student locations received Platinum awards:

Bozeman, Mont. Waukesha, Wis,
Portland, Ore.

Five First Student locations received Gold awards:

McMinnville, Org. Los Angeles
Oakland, Calif. San Fernando, Calif.
Long Lake, Minn.

Four First Student locations received Silver awards:

Gardena, Calif. Santa Ana, Calif.
Mission Viejo, Calif. Seattle

Two First Student locations received Bronze awards:

Baldwin Park, Calif. San Bernardino, Calif.

First Student works to reduce bus emissions by investing in its fleet, adopting new technologies, exploring alternative fuels and enacting sustainable policies.

The Green Fleet Certification program was developed in 2010 and is endorsed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus USA Program.
