First Student Donating Shuttle Service for April 17 AVA Walk

April 8, 2011

CINCINNATI — On Sunday, April 17, the Village of Greendale, Wis. and the family and friends of Ava Marie Zimmerman will host the AVA Walk. This two-mile walk honors the five-year old who was tragically killed in 2010 while walking with her family in a crosswalk. First Student, Inc., the nation’s leader in student transportation and the special needs transportation provider for several area schools, will donate shuttle service for the event.

The walk will start at the Greendale Village Hall. Free transportation for participants and their families will be provided between the parking facilities at Greendale High School and the Village Hall. Shuttle service will run from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“We are pleased that we can support this year’s AVA Walk and honor Ava’s memory by assisting her family and friends this event,” said Rick Mudry, First Student’s Muskego contract manager. “At First Student, safety is our core value, and we support their efforts to raise awareness of pedestrian and crosswalk safety.”
