First Student Adds 50 Propane School Buses to Montana Fleet

July 16, 2013

CINCINNATI First Student, the largest provider of student transportation in North America, is adding 50 Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision school buses to its fleet to transport students in the Bozeman Public School District in Bozeman, Montana. The purchase supports the company’s vision of keeping people moving and communities prospering.

Propane autogas, which costs up to 50 percent less per gallon than diesel fuel, offers reduced maintenance costs due to its clean-burning properties. On-board the school buses, noise levels are decreased by 50 percent when compared to diesel counterparts, giving drivers fewer distractions.

First Student’s new Blue Bird school buses also include additional safety features for the school district’s students and drivers including, GPS tracking systems, onboard digital video cameras, the Child Check-Mate electronic reminder system designed to ensure no child is left unattended on a bus, and crossing gates to allow children to cross in front of the bus at a safe distance.

First Student’s core values of safety, commitment to customers, setting the highest standards, and support among locations are clearly demonstrated through the company’s regular investments in its fleet, implementation of leading edge technologies, and enactment of stringent safety policies.
