Driver Lamar Green from Location #11416 in Kansas City, Missouri was recognized for Outstanding Service for ensuring the safety of the wrestling team of Kansas City Public Schools. The school honored Lamar as a “Terrific Teammate” during a Board of Education meeting in March. The award celebrates those whose service to the district makes a difference in the lives of students. During a recent winter weather event, Lamar ensured high school students, who were competing in a wrestling tournament out of town, returned home safely. During the six-hour trip, Lamar frequently checked in with the dispatch office to share his progress and information about the road conditions. “Lamar showed a tremendous commitment to our core value of safety and to the high standards we have set in providing outstanding service to our school district partner,” said Location Manager David Dinges. Lamar has been a driver for our Kansas City location for the past three years. He and all First Student drivers are trained on driving in difficult weather conditions including snow, ice, rain and fog.
