Staff presented with awards for their work in the school transportation industry.
CINCINNATI — At this year’s National School Transportation Association (NSTA) Annual Meeting and Convention, First Student and four staff members were recognized and presented awards by the organization for their work and dedication to the school transportation industry. Corporate Special Needs, Operational Safety and Training Manager Dona Beauchea; Area General Manager Phil O’Donnell; and Senior Vice President of Operations Liz Sanchez received the Golden Merit Award, which recognizes excellence in service, safety and community responsibility. In addition, Regional Safety Manager Percy Abbott was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes special contributions made to pupil transportation contracting.
Also during the event, First Student was presented with an environmental award. The company received the Go Yellow, Go Green Award, which was created to recognize a leader in the school bus industry who had demonstrated initiative and commitment in pursuing positive responses to growing environmental concerns. The award is based on performance in the areas of greening of the fleet, greening of the company, and community and industry green leadership. This year, the NSTA’s annual meeting took place in Milwaukee, Wis., and provided those within the industry an opportunity to meet other professionals and learn more about industry trends, practices and new technology.
