CINCINNATI — First Student Inc., the nation’s leader in student transportation, has been awarded a five-year contract to provide school transportation for Xenia Community Schools in Ohio. The company is in the process of hiring the district’s current drivers.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve Xenia Community Schools,” said Scott Turney, First Student area general manager. “We are committed to providing safe and reliable transportation to the district and its students for many years to come.”
First Student will add 11 new buses to the current Xenia fleet, and install additional safety features, which include GPS tracking systems, the Child Check-Mate electronic reminder system designed to ensure no child is left unattended on a bus, and crossing gates to allow children to cross in front of the bus at a safe distance.
First Student’s contract with Xenia Community Schools begins in July, and also includes all fleet, routing, maintenance, plus management services.
