CINCINNATI — First Student, the nation’s leader in student transportation, has named Mike Shedor the region operations manager for the company’s Kansas and Central Missouri territory. Shedor will manage overall operations and provide counsel to multiple First Student locations throughout the area, including Jefferson City, Kansas City and Columbia in Missouri, and Olathe, Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley in Kansas.
Shedor will work closely with local management to continue building upon the strong relationships First Student has established with districts in the region. He will also coach staff on all aspects of operations including the company’s extensive safety policies and training programs.
“Mike brings a wealth of leadership, management and staff development experience to our team,” said Steve Roessler, region vice president, First Student. “His knowledge of managing large teams and motivating staff members will be a benefit to our local teams as they continue to provide safe transportation and outstanding service to the districts we serve.”
Most recently, Shedor served as field consultant – district manager for 7-Eleven, Inc. in Chicago. Prior to that, he held a number of progressive positions over a 20-year period with the Hertz Corporation including general manager – Heartland Operations. While at Hertz, Shedor was recognized for leading his teams to the highest levels of customer service, improving talent acquisition, increasing fleet efficiency and increasing revenue and market share.
Shedor holds a bachelor of science degree in marketing with a minor in finance from DePaul University in Chicago. He also holds an MBA from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Ill. Shedor is based out of the company’s Overland Park, Kan. location.
