Rochester Public Utilities and the Olmsted County Environmental Commission awarded “Project Green Fleet-Rochester” with an Environmental Achievement Award during a recent ceremony. First Student Rochester participates in Project Green Fleet-Rochester, part of the Minnesota Environmental Initiative, which seeks innovative partnerships to develop and enact programs that positively impact the environment. This is the fifteenth year the awards have been presented to recognize individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution towards environmental quality.
“At First Student, safety is our number one priority, and being good environmental stewards is a part of that focus,” says location manager Jon Goetz. In fact, installing special filters is just one way First Student works to reduce emissions,” said Goetz. “We also enforce a strict no-idling policy, use biodiesel and regularly maintain our vehicles to ensure they are in top working condition. At First Student, we are continually looking for ways to improve the experience for the children entrusted to us on our buses.”
