Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald holds a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware, a Master of Arts from St. John’s College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Frostburg State University.
He began his career in education in Maryland as a Social Studies and English teacher and after 13 years in the classroom, Dr. Fitzgerald moved to Delaware where he became the assistant principal and principal of Caesar Rodney High School and now superintendent of Caesar Rodney School District.

About the Superintendent of the Year:
As a sponsor of the superintendent of the Year program, First Student wants to recognize these leaders in a special way this year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the disruption that has affected all education systems but also the innovative approaches that the superintendents and school districts addressed through radio, television, zoom and take-home packages. These superintendents are the very best in public education and are needed more than ever during this crisis.
