Dr. Justin Henry is currently in his 10th year as serving as the Superintendent for Goddard Public Schools. He has served as an administrator in Kansas schools for over twenty years, previously serving as the Superintendent at Southeast of Saline and as an administrator in the Ottawa School District. In addition to his service in these three school districts Dr. Henry has taught for Ottawa University for almost 20 years. He has served as President of the Kansas School Superintendents’ Association, Mid-American Association of School Superintendent’s, and Schools for Fair Funding.
Dr. Henry is a 5th generation Kansan where public service and a commitment to supporting Kansas students and communities runs deep in his family. Multiple generations of educators and board of education members in his family have helped model what it means to be a true public servant.

As a sponsor of the superintendent of the Year program, First Student wants to recognize these leaders in a special way this year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the disruption that has affected all education systems but also the innovative approaches that the superintendents and school districts addressed through radio, television, zoom and take-home packages. These superintendents are the very best in public education and are needed more than ever during this crisis.
