Dr. Jason Snodgrass has served as Superintendent of Schools for the Fort Osage R-1 School District since 2015. Prior to becoming Superintendent, Dr. Snodgrass served as principal at Fort Osage High School for six years. Prior to his work at Fort Osage High School, he served in the Polo R-VII, Marceline R-V and Brookfield R-III Districts. Dr. Snodgrass is passionate about providing a culture of learning that helps foster student success. He credits the growth and success of the school district to effective communication and a collective effort of a variety of stakeholders. Building strong partnerships with area school districts and community organizations is a basis to expand programming and provide additional support for students. Under his leadership the District has:
*Implemented the Real World Learning Initiative at Fort Osage to provide students with college and career readiness activities and experiences
*Worked cooperatively with the board of education to ensure long term financial stability
*Passed two bond issues at the highest approval ratings in District history
*Passed two operating levy issues at the highest approval ratings in District history
*Partnered with multiple community organizations to create a community service space within the district
*Developed a facilities master plan that resulted in over $68 million in capital improvements
Dr. Snodgrass is currently the Cooperating School Districts of Greater Kansas City Board President, serves on the Missouri Association of School Administrators Executive Committee, and is a Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference Executive Committee member. Previously, Dr. Snodgrass served as the Greater Kansas City School Administrators Region President, served on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Commissioner’s Advisory Council, and held the office of Chairman of the Board for the Independence, MO Economic Development Council.
Dr. Snodgrass has been recognized with a number of distinctions and accomplishments. He was recognized as the Greater Kansas City School Administrators Association New Superintendent of the Year, the Missouri Association Secondary School Administrators State High School Principal of the Year, the Greater Kansas City Boy Scouts Ambassador of the Year, the Missouri Cheer Coaches Association Administrator of the Year, and the Trails West Missouri Association of Student Council Administrator of the Year.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Missouri. He received a Master in Educational Leadership and Specialist in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. He earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University.
Dr. Snodgrass has been married to his wife Jodie for 25 years. They have five children Will, a student in the Fire Science Academy at MCC Blue River, and Ryan, Emma, Alex, and Paige who are sophomores at Fort Osage High School.
