The face of First Student, school bus drivers pick up and deliver several hundred children during a normal shift — on time and safely. They are responsible for following all traffic and company regulations to the letter, and they must remain consistently calm and collected in all situations. They also complete daily pre- and post-shift vehicle inspection activities to ensure a safe journey for all riders.

Apply

School bus routers coordinate the movement of thousands of children on hundreds of buses to dozens of schools. They work with external customers and internal team members to meet daily challenges and make sure there is no disruption in service.

Dispatchers oversee bus routing and scheduling, and communicate directly with drivers, parents, and administrators. They’re on the front lines coordinating, directing, and juggling to ensure on-time performance and great customer service.

Apply

Maintenance technicians maintain the vehicles that transport thousands of schoolchildren every day. Working closely with the shop manager, maintenance technicians perform a wide variety of duties, from light repairs to overhauls, with the goal of providing the safest journey to and from school.

Apply

Shop managers are responsible for building, training, and leading a team of technicians that maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and school bus equipment. These managers are excellent technicians and great teachers who know what needs to be done to run a safe, efficient operation.

Safety managers are trusted leaders who ensure all location operations are performed in a safe manner. They verify all staff are properly trained, monitor driving reports, coach drivers, and provide general support to our local team members and community.

Location managers bring the company vision to life. They motivate their team by articulating the goals, drawing up the game plan, and then helping everyone reach the goals. They keep an eye on all aspects of the fleet and facility so that we continue to run profitably and efficiently, and they work to build the entire operation on First Student’s cornerstones of safety and customer service.
