Build a student support system

First Serves provides structured planning and support to bridge the gap between the classroom and the school bus. Our unique program connects experienced transportation department staff, an advisory board of educational and behavioral professionals, district leaders, and the families and caregivers of students. We specialize in delivering targeted training for driving staff and on-vehicle monitors, customized to your school district’s needs.

The program aligns seamlessly with classroom concepts students already know, meeting the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) while supporting the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). By partnering with your district, we help foster students’ social-emotional development, reduce behavior incidents on buses, and deliver meaningful cost savings per student.

Effective special needs transportation training 

First Serves was developed in partnership with nationally recognized leaders from Research 1 universities and top children’s hospitals. Training topics include recognizing behaviors and causes, de-escalation tactics, understanding the “rage cycle”, and communication with families and caregivers.

Communication and program tools include social emotional learning plan integration, continuum of services, shareable parent materials, and collaborative planning. They can be tailored to include your district’s existing systems. 

Caregivers will receive engagement resources like student “All About Me” forms, social stories, surveys and evaluations, and student bus ride activities.
