First Student Adds Nearly 100 New School Buses to Its Cincinnati Fleet

August 9, 2012

CINCINNATI — First Student, the largest provider of student transportation in North America, has added 99 new school buses to its fleet to safely and securely transport students in the Cincinnati Public School District.

The Thomas Built Safe-T-Liner buses are newly designed with a focus on added safety and comfort, as well as cleaner emissions. The enlarged front window offers drivers greater visibility. Deeper seats and larger windows provide students with a more enjoyable ride. In addition, the new buses boast a footprint of near-zero nitrogen oxide emission.

“First Student’s core value of safety is evident through the regular investments we make in our fleet,” said Scott Turney, First Student area general manager. “The new buses meet our high standards of safety, while being environmentally and technologically advanced.”

First Student added additional safety features to the buses, which include GPS tracking systems, the Child Check-Mate electronic reminder system designed to ensure no child is left unattended on a bus, and crossing gates to allow children to cross in front of the bus at a safe distance.

The new buses began transporting Cincinnati Public School students in August.
