We all have dreams.

Sometimes our dreams come in the form of a dream job or a vacation. But for onesix-year-old boy, his dream became a reality when Location #12675 in Methacton,Pennsylvania, made him an honorary bus driver for a day.

Last month, Melissa Gomez emailed Location Manager Amy Huffman about how muchher step-son, Robbie, enjoys riding the bus to school and his fascination withbuses. In her email, Melissa wrote, “The only things he enjoys doing iswaking up early, going out in the backyard at 6:18 a.m. to watch all the buses goby and going to the bus yard. He also types on his iPad ‘Be bus driver2025’.” Melissa’s email also mentioned her struggle regardingwhat to get her autistic son for Christmas, but she knew the perfect gift — atour of the bus yard. She asked if the location could accommodate this request.

Amy, being true to our values of being committed to our customers, responded toMelissa’s email request with a resounding YES! At the time Amy received theemail, First Student President, Dennis Maple, was at the location. She shared theemail with Dennis and he asked to send a letter and a care package to Robbie.

On the morning of December 28, 2016, Robbie and his entire family, arrived atthe location and were treated to a tour of the bus yard. They also took a pretendbus ride while Robbie beeped the horn and dismissed all the students (his familymembers) from the bus. Later, everyone returned to the office so they could watch aSafety Dog video message. The message, especially prepared for Robbie, told him howhe could stay safe while riding the bus.

By the end of the visit, Robbie’s parents expressed such gratitude to Amyand her staff for coming in on their day off so their son could live out hisdream.
