CINCINNATI — The National Association of Student Transportation (NSTA) inducted Carey Paster, First Student’s President and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Development, into its Hall of Fame on July 21.
Established in 1992, the NSTA Hall of Fame Award recognizes long-term, excellent contribution made to the school transportation industry.
Only one transportation professional per state is inducted into the Hall of Fame each year. To be eligible for Hall of Fame status, a nominee must be a:
NSTA member for 10+ consecutive years
School bus contractor for at least 10 consecutive years.
Member of the state contractors’ association (if available)
In addition, each nominee must have made a significant impact on the transportation industry during his or her career.
Paster has more than 30 years of experience in the transportation industry, first serving as president of Carey, Inc., a family transportation business headquartered in Massachusetts. He joined First Student in 1999 as Senior Vice President of operations and later served as President of First Student, now the largest school bus transportation provider in North America.
During his leadership, First Student tripled in size, transporting more than 4 million children to school each day. Paster was appointed President and CEO of Commercial Development in 2008, where he is responsible for further growth and development of both the transit and student businesses in First Student.
